Thawing and cracking pipes in Pitcarin, Pa.
Challenge
Betsy called Keystone Basement Systems to help her with her wet basement. She couldn't figure out why it was getting moisture when the snow thawed. Keystone knew they had to get someone out to her right away, so they scheduled her an appointment to sit with a field inspector for the very next day. Keystone's field inspector noticed some frozen downspouts and some cracks in her foundation while walking up the steps to meet with her. He quickly made note of that as he wanted to start off this inspection with a conversation with Betsy, this is where he would answer any of her questions and hopefully put her mind at ease while he was doing so. The field inspector and Betsy sat down and discussed the problem, and him making sure to have listened to all of her concerns. The field inspector then quickly got to work performing his very detailed inspection of the problem area. The plan that he came up with was a surefire fix to this water issue. The plan was to install some new downspouts along with a few extensions that they would need. The plan also involved a buried discharge line and an internal drainage system with a service port. Lastly, the plan involved a sump pump to make sure any water that did get in would be sucked right out. The field inspector sat down once again with Betsy to go over everything and answer any of her questions along the way in this conversation. The field inspector then returned to the office and got this project scheduled for installation.
Solution
Upon installation day the foreman and his crew very promptly arrived and got right to work unloading the truck of any tools and products they were going to be using that day. The foreman had introduced himself and touched base on what was going to be going on, he even scheduled a mid-day check-in to make sure Betsy was aware of the progress on her project. The crew installed the discharge line, the new downspouts, and the internal drain, they then moved on to installing the sump pump and wrapped up with cleaning up after themselves. The foreman then went over every detail with Betsy, ensuring that she understood how everything worked and the telephone number to the service department just in case she needed them. Betsy was extremely happy with the final results and not only gave the foreman and his crew a great 5-star review but also gave Keystone a few referrals.
