Very old home in Coal Center
Challenge
Geri owns a very old home that has been in her family for years. The home itself is over 100 years old and needed some work to be done to be structurally sound again. Geri scheduled an appointment with Keystone Basement Systems for that very week to have someone come out and look at the problem area. Upon the day of the scheduled appointment field inspector, Darryl showed up promptly for his appointment only to find Geri and her husband John outside waiting on him, they were pretty anxious to get this fixed. The field inspector and the homeowners went over everything and the field inspector Darryl quickly got to work instilling his knowledge of old basements and got right to work. The field inspector had come up with a plan to get this house fixed and the plan was as follows... Install an internal drainage system, replace the old broken floor joists, and install 6 CarbonArmor carbon fiber straps. The plan also included 4 new I beams as well as 5 push piers to be installed. The last thing on the plan was to point the cracks in the walls and install new downspouts to this home. The field inspector then met with the homeowner once again to go over the plan and to make sure it was something that they wanted to get done, once they sat down they were ready to sign on the dotted line to get this out for installation as soon as possible.
Solution
Upon the day of installation, the foreman and his crew got there and quickly got to work. They first installed the downspouts and replaced the floor joists, this had to be done so that the piering and the straps would be installed in a safe way. The foreman and the crew then moved on to installing the CrabonArmor straps and the push piers. They then installed the I beam and then pointed the cracks. the internal drainage system was also installed and then the foreman and his crew made sure to clean up the area that they were working in. The foreman then met with the homeowner to make sure that they had the service departments phone number so that she could schedule their annual maintenance service appointments.
