This Morgantown, WV homeowner had a big problem with moisture and humidity in their crawl space. Ground water was pooling throughout the crawl space, insulation was falling to the ground, and the floor above sagged. To address this issue, they needed a comprehensive moisture and humidity solution that would protect their home, as well as the future integrity of their crawl space. After the free inspection, Keystone Basement Systems recommended a permanent crawl space encapsulation solution. This included a vapor barrier, crawl space support jacks, a dehumidifier, and insulation. This encapsulation and support system was designed to keep moisture and humidity levels in the crawl space low and protect the home from future water and structural damage. The homeowner was pleased with the recommendation and was eager for a clean, bright, dry, and stable crawl space.     Directly underneath the sagging floors, we installed a steel supplemental beam and our SmartJack Crawl Space Support System.SmartJacks are designed to lift, stabilize, and support the floor and correct sagging to a level position.In order to prevent outside elements from getting into the crawl space, the crew sealed it off. Open vents were covered with CleanSpace vent covers, rim joists and penetrations around piping were insulated, and the floor was insulated with rigid foam insulation. During installation, our premium-quality CleanSpace 20-mil vapor barrier was mechanically fastened to the walls, around the piers, and over the floor insulation. The vapor barrier liner prevents moisture from seeping into the space through the walls and floor. A heavy-duty vapor barrier tape was used to seal the seams after the vapor barrier was in place.Lastly, the powerful SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed along with a condensation pump to effectively control moisture and humidity to prevent mold growth, eliminate odors, and keep the space permanently dry.
