Photo Album: The Most Effective Solution for a Failing Garage Wall in Cranberry Twp, PA

A Cranberry Township homeowner with severe foundation wall issues in their garage contacted our office for a free foundation repair inspection. An examination of the wall damage revealed that the soil pressure, also known as "hydrostatic pressure", was too great for the wall to support. When the pressure is greater than the wall can handle, the wall will crack, bow, and push inward as a result. Upon completing the assessment, we discussed our findings with the homeowner as well as a comprehensive plan to permanently stabilize the wall. To determine which foundation stabilization method was the most effective solution to this customer's problem, the soil around the foundation had to be removed. A hydraulic push was required. After the push attempt, it was decided that the most effective solution was the PowerBrace Wall Repair System. The PowerBrace Wall Repair System is the ideal way to stabilize failing foundation walls. If you have walls that are bowing, buckling, or tilting inwards, installing a PowerBrace system can stop any further damage and potentially straighten the wall. Particle board on the interior wall had to be removed before installation. Once removed, the crew custom cut the PowerBrace beams to 9' and installed steel brackets to the joists above the wall. To ensure the structure was fully supported, 10 braces were installed. The PowerBrace System provides permanent support, but is also easily adjustable. This is so the braces can be tightened and the wall can be raised back to its original position.   After the installation was completed, the trench dug on the outside of the foundation wall was backfilled. 2 crack monitors were installed on the side wall to measure the wall movement and alert the homeowner if further stabilization is needed.
