Job Stories From Indiana County, PA
Dehumidifier for Damp Basement in Rochester Mills, PA

The property owner had elevated levels of relative humidity which was causing a musty odor in the basement.  The home was climate controlled, but basement HVAC components were inadequate.  Additionally, and more importantly, there was basement water leaks that added to the available moisture in the environment.  This was a classic case of a home in need of dehumidification.

The footprint of the home was such that two Sedona High Performance Dehumidifiers were necessary to control the cubic feet of air on the basement level.  The units were ducted and condensate pumps were used to pump the water into floor drains that sat out of the way.

Within 2-hours of installation the RH% dropped from 72% to 61%.  Within 24-hours the area was at the desired 55%.

Leveled floors in Home, PA

Phyllis noticed that her home was not level, and the water coming through the terra cotta foundation was getting worse. The doors of her home would not sit well in their frame and noticed gaps between his floors and banisters. Not sure how to move forward she contacted Keystone Basement Systems and our Field Inspector, Jeff went out to perform an inspection.

Jeff was able to listen to Phyllis's concerns, diagnose the issue, and prescribe treatments that would save the home. Jeff decided that a set of SmartJacks to reintroduce support. The SmartJacks are steel beams that are anchored into the foundational floor with poured concrete. The tops are fixed with load-bearing joints that are attached to strategic points on the home's supportive rim joist.

Additionally, a WaterGuard system with a SmartPump sump pump was the right plan for Phyllis and her home.

Your downspout needs an elbow

The homeowners had visited the Westmoreland County Fair in the prior years and had remembered seeing Keystone Basement Systems there, and it was a good thing because they needed help with some water seepage that was happening in their house. Keystone Basement System sent out their best of the best field inspectors out to speak with them and evaluate the issue at hand. Upon the inspection Aaron, the field inspector, had noticed his downspouts were not connected or flowing properly which was leading to water settling around the house due to having no where to go. Aaron then came up with the plan to get the downspouts elbowed the right way and also to install a 98 foot long buried downspout leader for 2 downspouts. He had also suggested that we raise the gutters 4 inches so that the water doesn't fly over the gutter box  and follow that up with drainage to the leech field.

These homeowners got onto Facebook and saw Keystone Basement Systems and knew they had to call right away. They were having some structural issues along with water getting into their basement. Keystone urgently sent out one of their best field inspectors to sit and talk with them before doing his very detailed inspection of this problem area. The field inspector quickly went to work coming up with a plan that would not only work for this house but help to put their minds at ease. The field inspectors plan was to install a buried discharge line, some WaterGuard, CleanSpace and a TripleSafe sump pump. The plan also involved a trench drain and a service port. The final products to be installed were the CrabonArmor carbon fiber straps and the support beams. There was a total of 8 straps to be installed and 2 beams.

Basement waterproofing in Indiana

This homeowner called Keystone Basement Systems due to the fact that he had a wet basement and knew he could not fix it himself. Keystone promptly made him an appointment for the very next day, in which the very knowledgeable field inspector showed up with great urgency and precise timelines. The field inspector and the homeowner sat down and went over every one of the homeowner's concerns and questions he had about the problem area, before conducting his very thorough inspection of the issue at hand. The field inspector had to come up with a very custom plan to get this home dry again as the homeowner wanted to keep this house in the family for several years to come. The field inspector took very accurate measurements and performed several moisture tests to ensure that the plan was to the utmost accuracy. The plan was to install an internal drainage system as well as a single pump sump pump and a buried discharge line, The internal drainage system would have a cleanout for the service of the system and to ensure that nothing got clogged and dysfunctional.  The field inspector then finished up his inspection and went back to talk to the homeowner about the plan. This was done to make sure that the homeowner not only knew what the cause of the issue was but to also be informed of the fix and what could potentially happen if he did not get this fixed. The homeowner was very thrilled with the plan and so the field inspector returned to the office to schedule this project for installation.

CarbonArmor in Indiana for structural foundation repair

This homeowner called upon Keystone Basement System because he had some cracks in the walls of the basement he was concerned about. Keystone very promptly made an appointment with a field inspector to go out to his home and speak with him about this problem before he conducted a very thorough inspection of the problem. The inspection was to ensure that the plan that he customized for this home was an accurate plan and would last the homeowner a lifetime of surety. The homeowner had expressed how this was an urgent matter to him because he wanted this to be his forever home. The field inspector then got right to work going over the walls with the utmost care and precise detail. The field inspector discovered that the walls were in need of some point cracking as well as 6 CarbonArmor carbon fiber straps. The CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System is a state-of-the-art solution for bowing and cracking foundation walls. Using the same technology the Army Corps of Engineers developed to reinforce bomb shelters, skyscrapers, and bridges, we use CarbonArmor® to stabilize your basement walls.

The CarbonArmor® System includes flexible carbon fiber fabric straps that are up to 10 times stronger in tension than steel. Using high-strength epoxy resin, the carbon fiber straps are bonded to the interior face of the wall. The straps will stabilize the wall. This system requires no exterior excavation, installs quickly, and won't impact future basement finishing. The field inspector then went over the plan with the homeowner to ensure he understood not only the plan but also the future problems he might run into if he didn't have this issue fixed. The homeowner was more than understanding and asked for the field inspector to schedule this project for the first available date Keystone had to install this. The field inspector agreed and the project was put on the schedule for installation. Upon completion of the installation the homeowner was more than pleased to see that his basement walls were fixed and he didn't have to worry about them collapsing or deteriorating any further. The homeowner left a great 5-star review for Keystone and even recommended them to a close friend who was having a very similar issue.

Basement Transformation

At Keystone Basement Systems, we recently had the pleasure of transforming a once damp and unusable basement in Saltsburg, PA, into a dry, comfortable space that the homeowner, Martin, could not only use again but be proud of. Upon contacting us, Martin shared his frustration, describing his basement as a "disaster" due to an ongoing water problem. Understanding his distress and desire to reclaim his basement, we knew our expertise was just what Martin needed. Starting with a comprehensive inspection by one of our System Design Specialists, we identified the root causes of Martin's basement woes. To address these issues head-on, we proposed a combination of our leading-edge products: WaterGuard interior drainage system, TripleSafe Sump Pump, IceGuard, CleanSpace wall system, and the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. Each product, known for its reliability and high performance, was key in providing a complete waterproofing solution. Our production team, a group of skilled foreman and installers, got to work quickly. They meticulously installed the WaterGuard system along the basement perimeter to capture wall and floor seam water leaks, routing everything efficiently to the TripleSafe Sump Pump – a beast in removing water out and far away from the basement. On the exterior, IceGuard was installed to prevent freezing, ensuring function even in the coldest months. To block vapor and make the walls look clean, the CleanSpace system was installed, giving the basement a bright, fresh look. Lastly, the SaniDry Sedona came in to keep the air dry, ensuring the space remained comfortable and mold-free. Throughout the process, our team kept Martin in the loop, ensuring he was comfortable and satisfied with our methods. The outcome left Martin astounded.

TrenchDrain Saves Flooding 3 Season Room

At Keystone Basement Systems, we pride ourselves on solving even the trickiest basement issues with ease and professionalism, but sometimes the issue is NOT in the basement. Just last month, we had the opportunity to showcase our expertise for a homeowner in Clarksburg, PA. Their beautiful 3-season room had a major downside; it would flood after every heavy rain, turning what should have been a serene space into a source of stress. Understanding the problem is only half the battle. Our process kicked off with a phone call to our Customer Care team, leading to an on-site inspection by one of our experienced System Design Specialists. The diagnosis was clear: the room needed a robust solution to manage the excess water effectively. We proposed installing a TrenchDrain system around the perimeter to catch and redirect water, preventing it from invading the space. But that was just the beginning. To ensure the room's integrity and offer a temporary solution against future issues, we also recommended the installation of our PowerBrace product - a reliable name for reinforcing structures. Our production team, consisting of a knowledgeable foreman and skilled installers, was on the job, executing the plan with precision. The process was smooth, from the careful trench digging to laying the TrenchDrain and powering washing the concrete to fend off residual water or mud. The job was not done until the PowerBrace system was securely in place, providing that quasi-shield against potential structural woes down the line. The outcome? The homeowner’s 3-season room was transformed from a flood-prone area to a cozy, waterproofed retreat that could be enjoyed year-round, rain or shine. Our team left the site clean, confirming that our mission to provide outstanding service and lasting solutions was once again fulfilled. It's just what we do at Keystone
