Job Stories From Somerset County, PA
Help my crawlsapce is all dirty

The homeowners got onto Angi to help find a basement person who could help with their "dirty" crawlspace. She said she was sick and tired of having the house smell moldy and all the dust that came up through from it being all dirt down there. Keystone sent out one of the amazing field inspectors to sit down with her and further talk about what was going on. After doing so he completed a inspection of the crawlspace and came up with a great plan to help this homeowner out. The field inspectors plan was to dig out the existing extra dirt and level off the flooring in the crawlspace and then to install CleanSpace to insure it is mold and dirt free.

Internal French Drain

This homeowner was referred to Keystone Basement Systems by her nephew, who had work done and was over the top happy with it. The homeowner was having issues with water getting into her basement and she knew she needed a professional to fix it. Keystone quickly scheduled an appointment for the very next day with field inspector Jeff to not only sit down and speak with her about this issue but also to complete a very detailed inspection of the problem area. The inspection would ensure that he was coming up with the most accurate plan there was to get her home fixed and dry again.  The field inspector's plan was to install an internal drainage system that has a service port and is also connected to a buried discharge line. He also needed to include some new downspout and downspout extensions that could all be tied into the new drainage system. The field inspector sat down once again with the homeowner to go over his plan and answer any further questions she had.

BrightWall for a Confluence basement

These A-frame vacation homeowners called Keystone Basement Systems to do the waterproofing in their vacation home. They knew about the issues when they purchased the house a year earlier from a friend. Keystone sent out one of their best field inspectors, Andrew Mcintire to not only speak with them but to also perform a very detailed inspection of the problem area. Andrew jumped right into performing his very detailed inspection by conducting all the right tests and taking only very accurate measurements. The field inspector then had a plan that was guaranteed to get this home back to being dry.  The plan involved WaterGuard and BrightWall for the walls and base.  It also included the use of a TripleSafe sump pump and a buried discharge line. Andrew sat down with the homeowners once again to go over the entire plan from start to end, explaining the process in fine detail in hopes to have met all of their concerns head on.

WaterGuard to the rescue in Windber

This homeowner called Keystone Basement Systems due to the fact that he had found not only did he have a moist basement but now it was getting moldy. Keystone quickly sent out one of their best field inspectors to meet with him and go over the issues at hand, before conducting his very detailed inspection of the problem area. The field inspector knew that this homeowner had concerns about the health issues that could occur when there is black mold involved, so he urgently went down to the basement and performed his very thorough inspection. The inspection consisted of various amounts of testing as well as having to take very accurate measurements to ensure the plan was very precise.  The plan was made up of not only an internal french drain but also and more importantly an anti microbial wash along with CleanSpace.  The CleanSpace® Wall System  can hold back water vapor passing through your foundation walls, directing it to your sump pump. With anti-microbial protection called UltraFresh built right in, no mold or mildew will grow on the CleanSpace!

If you have stone walls, an exposed ledge in your basement, or dirt floors, CleanSpace® is the perfect solution! With its 25-year warranty from rips or tears, you can be sure it's strong enough to do the job!

Waterproofing in Windber

This homeowner called upon Keystone Basement System to help with their wet basement. Keystone then sent out one of their finest field inspectors to discuss the issue and also to perform a very thorough inspection of the said problem area. The field inspector conducted his inspection and came up with the best custom plan he saw fit for this home. Each plan that Keystone comes up with custom made to fit each individual home as no two plans can be the same as no two problems are the same.  This field inspector's plan consisted of installing an internal drainage system as well as a buried discharge line and some new downspouts. He knew that without doing all three of these things this house was never going to be completely dry as the downspouts that were up at the time of inspection were old and broken and not even aimed in the right direction with where the runoff was. The downspouts were running off right down the walls of the basement and that caused part of the moisture issue that this homeowner was having. The other part that had a play in the moisture issue was the fact that he had some cracking in the walls, this was a result of the downspout water running over the outside for so many years that it had caused a breakdown of the structural damages. This homeowner was thrilled that the problem was caught before it got worse and that the cracks were easily fixed by performing point cracking, which Keystone also did!

Foundation Failure Recommendation in Acosta, PA

A homeowner in Acosta, PA called us seeking professional advice about their failing foundation. Both the front porch and the addition to the back of their house were sinking into the soil.As a result, the floors were uneven and it was difficult to close the doors.

Sometimes, support pillars are built on soils that are not strong enough to support the weight of your home. Over time, these supports will begin to sink into the soil. As they do, the floor they hold up will sink as well, leading to uneven floors, sticking doors, and even wall cracks.

Our team of foundation repair experts recommend the installation of SmartJack Support Posts. SmartJack Support Posts support the floor joists and provide a strong and stable foundation.

Sagging Floor Problem Solved in Hidden Valley, PA

In this Hidden Valley, PA home, we provided a free foundation repair inspection to determine how to fix the sagging floor problem. Chris Bailey, our foundation repair expert and field inspector, examined the sagging floors and crawl space below them thoroughly and discussed his findings with the homeowner. The main beam directly beneath the sagging floors suffered water damage due to high moisture levels in the crawl space. Our solution was to replace the damaged support beam with a steel supplemental beam that won't rust or rot and install SmartJack Support Posts to lift the floor to its original position and permanently stabilize it.

Crawlspace Transformed

The home had a nasty crawlspace that leaked and was collapsing. The dining room above was sinking and the floors were cracking. The upstairs smelled like mold and, according to the homeowner, was “not fit to live in.” Rather than just build new walls under the area, we created a storage nook. The cost was about 15% more to add the concrete floor and other extras, but the homeowner was over the moon about how the end product was. Eventually the area will be turned into storage once the homeowner saves enough money to get a high performance dehumidifier. She had a brand new unit from Lowe’s, but it failed all three tests performed on it and was largely ineffective. Our high performance dehumidifier can solve this issue in the future.

Basement Problem Solved Perfectly

The homeowner's distress over the situation was palpable, stemming from a sense of sudden upheaval despite the issue's longstanding nature. To her, it felt like a bolt from the blue, inducing a wave of fear and uncertainty. In her moment of distress, she turned to her brother for support, seeking solace and guidance in the face of the unknown. It was her brother who came to her aid, swiftly stepping in to assist. He took charge of the situation, leveraging his resources to find a solution. It was through his initiative that Keystone Basement Systems, Inc. entered the picture.

The brother's presence at the inspection spoke volumes about the familial bond and the unwavering commitment to each other's well-being. His proactive involvement demonstrated a profound sense of responsibility and care for his sister's welfare. Not content with merely being a bystander, he actively engaged with the inspection process, asking pertinent questions and seeking clarity on the course of action to be taken. His proactive stance ensured that his sister's concerns were addressed comprehensively, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of resolution.

What truly sets this anecdote apart is the brother's gesture of gratitude. Despite Keystone Basement Systems, Inc. not being directly involved in rectifying his own property issues, he took the time to express his appreciation through a heartfelt thank-you card. This gesture speaks volumes about the values instilled within their familial dynamic – a culture of reciprocity, gratitude, and mutual support. It underscores the ethos of Keystone Basement Systems, Inc., where relationships are cherished, and every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive impact.

Crawlspace Encapsulation

The homeowner's initial setup featuring a vented dirt crawlspace represented a suboptimal condition, characterized by a myriad of adverse effects. Predominantly, the presence of rot, mold proliferation, structural impairment, unpleasant odors, and cold flooring were among the primary grievances articulated by the homeowner. To mitigate these issues comprehensively, a multifaceted approach was necessitated.

Firstly, addressing the structural integrity of the premises demanded an extensive overhaul. This encompassed the replacement of deteriorated wood components alongside the implementation of reinforcement measures for the floor platform, ensuring a robust foundation for subsequent interventions.

Subsequently, the pivotal phase entailed the encapsulation of the crawlspace utilizing a strategic amalgamation of advanced materials and systems. Notably, the deployment of CleanSpace, a premium-grade vapor barrier, played a pivotal role in fortifying the enclosure against moisture ingress, thereby averting the proliferation of mold and mitigating the risk of rot.

Furthermore, the integration of TerraBlock, a high-density insulation material, contributed decisively to enhancing thermal efficiency, addressing the longstanding issue of cold floors while concurrently fortifying the structural integrity of the crawlspace environment.

Augmenting these foundational elements, the implementation of Drainage Matting served to facilitate efficient moisture management, diverting water away from the foundation and safeguarding against potential water damage.

Lastly, the incorporation of the TripleSafe Pump mechanism provided an additional layer of security, furnishing the homeowner with a robust defense mechanism against potential flooding events, thereby ensuring comprehensive protection and longevity for the revamped crawlspace infrastructure.

Basement Wall Damage Repaired

In response to the homeowner's request for remediation of water damage in their finished basement, our technical team implemented a comprehensive solution consisting of several key components. Firstly, to address the issue of water intrusion, we installed our WaterGuard perimeter drainage system, renowned for its effectiveness in channeling water away from the basement walls and toward the TripleSafe sump pump system. The TripleSafe pump system, equipped with three pumps and a battery backup, ensures reliable and efficient water removal even in the event of power outages or pump failures.

Following the installation of the drainage and pump systems, our team proceeded with the necessary demolition of damaged studs and drywall to mitigate any existing moisture-related issues. This step is crucial in preventing the recurrence of water damage and creating a stable foundation for the renovation process.

To combat the humidity levels common in basement environments, we integrated a Sedona high-performance dehumidifier into the system. The Sedona dehumidifier is specifically designed to provide optimal moisture control, maintaining ideal humidity levels to prevent mold growth and maintain a comfortable indoor environment.

Upon completion of the remediation work, our technicians meticulously installed new wall panels crafted from premium inorganic materials. These panels not only offer superior durability and resistance to moisture but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the basement space. The utilization of inorganic materials ensures longevity and minimizes the risk of mold or mildew growth, contributing to a healthier indoor environment for the homeowner.

Throughout the entirety of the project, our team adhered to strict quality standards and timelines, ensuring that the work was completed efficiently and to the homeowner's satisfaction. By combining cutting-edge technology with expert craftsmanship, we were able to transform the homeowner's damaged basement into a functional, aesthetically pleasing space that will provide years of enjoyment and peace of mind.

Basement Waterproofing in Springs Pennsylvania

Recently in Springs, PA, a homeowner reached out to us at Keystone Basement Systems with a rather tricky situation. Their basement, once a functional space in their home, became practically unusable due to persistent water intrusion. Understandably frustrated, they needed a solution that could not just promise, but deliver lasting results. Here's how we turned their dilemma into a success story. First, our Customer Care team promptly scheduled a thorough home inspection. During the visit, a Systems Design Specialist accurately diagnosed the root of the water problem and recommended a tailored solution to permanently address it. The comprehensive plan included the installation of WaterGuard for effective drainage, a TripleSafe Sump Pump to efficiently pump out water, CleanSpace wall membrane to protect against moisture, SaniDry Sedona to dehumidify and purify the air, and the IceGuard system to prevent potential freezing issues during the colder months. Our production team, armed with expertise and the right tools, executed the plan flawlessly. The TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed, poised to handle the toughest of rains. They then affixed CleanSpace to the walls, creating a moisture barrier that also brightened the basement. To tackle air quality and humidity, the SaniDry Sedona was set up, guaranteeing a drier, more comfortable space. Finally, to combat freezing, an IceGuard system was added to the exterior discharge line—a foolproof measure to keep the exit path for water clear at all times. The homeowner's once water-logged basement has been transformed. They're now reassured with a space that's not just usable but healthy. Are you having an issue?
